Jeep officials greenlight Wagoneer 4xe with Ramcharger powertrain

Jeep has unveiled its electric vehicle plans, which include the all-electric Wagoneer S and future Recon, along with 4xe hybrids for the entire lineup. CEO Antonio Filosa announced that the next plug-in hybrids will be available for the Gladiator, Wagoneer, and Wagoneer L models, based on the Ramcharger range-extender plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The Wagoneer 4xe has been teased for some time, with initial plans pointing towards a variant of the Grand Cherokee’s plug-in hybrid system. However, the decision to use the Ramcharger powertrain makes more sense given the Wagoneer’s platform shared with the Ram 1500 trucks.

The high power output of the Ramcharger powertrain will be ideal for the Wagoneer’s size and performance requirements. With 663 horsepower, 615 pound-feet of torque, and a 92-kWh battery pack, the Wagoneer 4xe is set to deliver impressive performance comparable to the all-electric Wagoneer S.

Although the Wagoneer 4xe may not match the exact specifications of the Ramcharger, the concept of a fully electrified full-size SUV is appealing and will distinguish the Wagoneer in a segment currently lacking hybrid options.

###FAQs
