The relationship between Formula 1 and its governing body has improved, with both sides announcing they have agreed on a strategic plan for the future of F1.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed that his relationship with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali is stronger than ever, and they are working together to enhance their alliance.

In a joint statement provided to the AP on Wednesday, the FIA and Formula One Management announced their commitment to the development of a strategic plan to benefit F1.

“The FIA Formula 1 World Championship is experiencing unprecedented growth globally, and both the FIA and Formula 1 are dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for the sport as a whole,” the statement read.

Issues between FOM and the FIA, particularly involving Ben Sulayem, have been ongoing since his election as president after the controversial 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Despite challenges, the FIA cleared Ben Sulayem of any wrongdoing following investigations into allegations of interference during the 2023 season.

One of the major points of contention has been the potential expansion of the F1 grid to include a two-car Cadillac-backed American team led by Michael Andretti. Differences in opinion have arisen regarding the inclusion of new teams and their competitiveness.

The Andretti situation was discussed during meetings with FOM and the FIA at the Miami Grand Prix, but was not addressed in the official statement released by both parties.
