The New Fiat 500e Takes Inspiration from the Iconic Gray Skies of Los Angeles

If you hadn’t noticed, the 2024 Fiat 500e has started arriving at dealers in the United States, with all initial units painted bright red. Staying true to their strategy of releasing special editions akin to limited drops in fashion, Fiat has unveiled a new special edition model. The latest iteration of the 500e is named the Fiat 500e Inspired By Los Angeles, and it comes in a subtle gray hue.

You might be wondering how a small Italian electric car can draw inspiration from Los Angeles while sporting a somewhat unexciting color — isn’t LA famous for its sunny beaches and palm trees? The new color for the 500e, Marine Layer Mist, takes inspiration from a different aspect of Southern California’s weather phenomena.

In meteorological terms, a marine layer develops when a cold air mass from the ocean clashes with warm air over the land, resulting in cool temperatures and overcast skies, often leading to fog that usually dissipates by midday. Fiat’s choice of a silvery, blue-tinged hue for the 500e complements these weather conditions.

Exclusive features of the Inspired By Los Angeles edition include black window trim, matte gray mirror caps, a body-colored dashboard, a seven-speaker JBL audio system, and 17-inch diamond-cut wheels with the option of summer or all-season tires. Additionally, the vehicle comes equipped with a range of driver-assist technologies. Like its counterparts, the 500e is powered by a 42-kWh battery pack providing a range of 149 miles.

All these enhancements come at a price. The Fiat 500e Inspired By Los Angeles will have a starting price of $37,595, including destination charges. For those interested in investing in an electric urban vehicle, Fiat has announced that orders will be accepted at dealerships starting this month, with sales scheduled to commence in the third quarter of this year.
