Cadillac may have surprised some when it unveiled its entry-level Optiq EV back in late 2023. While the brand just gave us a glimpse of its appearance in November, it held back on revealing any further details. However, Cadillac has now disclosed more specifications and features about its latest small EV, including its initial price and range. The 2025 Optiq will have a starting price of only $54,000 when it hits the market later this year, positioning it favorably against competitors in a similar price range, such as higher trims of the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, as well as the Tesla Model Y.

Let’s delve into the crucial specifications first. Built on GM’s Ultium Platform, the Optiq is equipped with an 85-kWh battery and a standard dual-motor all-wheel drive configuration. This setup delivers 300 horsepower, 354 lb-ft of torque, and most notably, an estimated range of 300 miles. Cadillac claims that with DC fast charging, the battery can gain 79 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The Optiq also boasts other features that EV drivers may find appealing, such as one-pedal driving and Regen on Demand, which enables drivers to decelerate or stop the vehicle using just a paddle on the steering wheel.

On the exterior, the design of the Optiq gives off a more attractive and tech-savvy vibe compared to the XT4. While the Optiq is similar in size to the XT4, measuring 190″ in overall length, it is 10″ longer than the XT4 and just an inch taller. Additionally, the cargo space is more generous, offering 26 cubic feet of storage behind the second row, which expands to 57 cubic feet with both rows folded.

The Optiq boasts an elegant design with features such as a fixed glass roof, black crystal grille, and unique greeting lighting. Inside, the cabin is packed with the expected tech and features found in an EV. There’s a 33-inch screen stretching across the dashboard, a range of driver safety aids, a standard 19-speaker KG Audio System with Dolby Atmos, and standard SuperCruise hands-free driving technology (complimentary for the first three years).

When production commences in the fall, the Optiq will be offered in Luxury and Sport trims. With the inclusion of the EV tax credit, Cadillac may see a high demand for these vehicles.
