Volkswagen to refresh five car models for 2025

Volkswagen has revealed the updates it is implementing for its lineup in the 2025 model year, and they are quite extensive. While the Atlas and the ID.4 remain largely unchanged from the 2024 updates, the Jetta, Taos, Tiguan, Golf GTI, and Golf R will receive refreshes.

Specific details on these changes are forthcoming, as many of the updated models have not been unveiled for the American market yet. Volkswagen has shared that the Jetta and Jetta GLI will undergo updates for 2025, with both models set to be revealed in the second quarter of 2024. The Taos will receive a significant refresh in the third quarter of 2024, and the new third-generation Tiguan will debut for the 2025 model year.

For the performance-oriented models, the Golf GTI and Golf R are set to receive mid-cycle updates. The Golf R will come with a subtly updated exterior design, similar interior changes as the GTI, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 329 horsepower.

The crossovers that were updated for 2024 will also see minor changes. All Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport models now come standard with a 15-watt wireless device charger and Light Assist technology. The SEL Premium R-Line trims will have additional standard features, including a front passenger massage function and more color options.

New to the lineup for 2025 is the ID. Buzz, a longer version with three rows of seats compared to the European model. Details such as pricing, specifications, and trim levels will be announced later, with sales expected to begin in the fourth quarter.

Additionally, most of Volkswagen’s 2025 models will offer a voice assistant with ChatGPT integration. Pricing and launch timing for the 2025 range will be disclosed at a later date, with the first models expected to arrive in September and others in early 2025.
