The Polestar BST Concept: An Experimental EV with a Racing-Ready Aesthetic

Polestar is transforming the O2 Concept it revealed in March 2022 into a production roadster named 6. While the final version has not been unveiled yet, the brand showcased a preview of a high-performance variant of the model at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The design study carries the familiar BST nameplate. Previously seen on hot-rodded versions of the 2 known as BST Edition 270 and BST Edition 230, this time BST stands on its own. The BST shares visual cues with the 6 but boasts a more muscular appearance, including a deeper front bumper with a large splitter, flared wheel arches, and hood vents. It sits on 22-inch forged wheels, with a prominent rear wing and racing-inspired decals adding to its design.

Details about the interior and potential drivetrain changes by Polestar for the BST are currently unknown. Technical specifications for the 6 have not been released, but it is confirmed to be an electric roadster.

“This car demonstrates the extent to which we can push our performance brand – a Polestar turned up to 11, so to speak – and showcases how the BST formula could be implemented across our lineup in the future,” stated company CEO, Thomas Ingenlath.

The future of the BST concept remains uncertain, with more clarity expected upon the launch of the production version of the 6. Production is set to commence in Chongqing, China, in 2026, making it the sixth addition to the Polestar range, following the already released 3 and 4 models, with the electric sport sedan 5 scheduled for 2025.
