The New Ford Capri: A Volkswagen-Based Electric Crossover Sedan

Car enthusiasts are known for their strong opinions when a brand reuses a classic name on a new car that differs from the original. The latest controversy surrounds the new Ford Capri, which deviates from its iconic predecessor. While the original Capri was a popular gas-powered two-door sports coupe sold in Europe from 1968 to 1986, the new Capri is an electric four-door crossover sedan built on Volkswagen underpinnings. Are you ready to voice your thoughts on this?

Initially, I had my doubts about the new Capri after seeing leaked images. However, the design is beginning to appeal to me. Resembling the Polestar 2, the Capri appears as a sedan from the side but features a raised ride height, body cladding to conceal the battery weight, a sloping liftback hatch at the back, and prominent overhangs. Measuring 182.4 inches in length, the Capri is slightly shorter than a Mustang Mach-E but is comparable in height and width.
