The Most Powerful Audi Ever: The Refreshed 912-HP E-Tron GT

The Porsche Taycan may receive most of the spotlight, but it’s important not to underestimate its platform-mate, the Audi E-Tron GT. During our initial test drive, we discovered that it offers a surprising level of sportiness while still maintaining ample comfort for four passengers. Given its similarities to the Taycan, this was somewhat expected. Now, much like the Taycan, Audi has revamped the E-Tron GT for 2025, and the changes are more substantial than just a few exterior updates.

Most individuals may not immediately notice any alterations to the E-Tron GT’s appearance. The grille and Audi badge have been refreshed, but overall, it closely resembles the car Audi introduced in 2021. While the front end may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, the design is quite appealing from other angles, and the inclusion of Bedford Green as a paint option is a nice touch.

Internally, the visual adjustments are minimal. A new, more angular steering wheel, updated seats, and some modifications to the information display software are the primary changes. Additionally, an optional panoramic sunroof is now available, which turns opaque at the push of a button. While not groundbreaking technology, features like this, along with surround-view camera systems, contribute to a futuristic feel.

The most exciting updates are to the powertrain. Although the previous model’s 522 horsepower was satisfactory, the base model S now boasts 671 hp. Opt for the RS, and you’ll enjoy 845 hp, while the RS Performance delivers a remarkable 912 hp.

Audi claims the S accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds, with the RS achieving this in 2.8 seconds, and the RS Performance in 2.5 seconds. Brake enhancements have been applied across the lineup, and a carbon-ceramic brake package with 10-piston front calipers is available for those planning to track their E-Tron GT.

The battery capacity has been increased from 83.7 kWh to 97.0 kWh, resulting in a range of 378 miles on the European testing cycle. EPA testing may yield a lower range, possibly around 320 miles. Charging speeds have also improved to 320 kW, allowing for an 18-minute charge from 10 to 80 percent on the appropriate charger.

Handling has been enhanced with an upgraded adjustable air suspension, and optimal performance can be achieved with the optional active air suspension and rear-steer system. Audi has worked diligently to enhance every component of the vehicle, even if these tweaks aren’t headline-grabbing. Based on our experience with the updated Taycan, we anticipate the new E-Tron GT will offer significant overall improvements.

Pricing for the U.S. has not yet been disclosed, but it starts at €126,000 in Europe. North American pricing details will likely be announced when Audi reveals the on-sale date.
