Testing the Cadillac Lyriq’s Trunk Space: How much Luggage Can It Hold?

The Cadillac Lyriq is part of the expanding lineup of electric vehicles built on GM’s Ultium platform. Like its midsize SUV counterparts on the same platform (such as the Chevy Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Honda Prologue, and Acura ZDX), the Lyriq prioritizes rear passenger space and a sleek, aerodynamic roofline over ample cargo capacity. Despite its exterior dimensions being comparable to midsize SUVs, the cargo capacity of the Lyriq falls on the smaller side when compared to non-luxury compact SUVs.

While the Blazer EV barely managed to fit all the standard luggage test bags in its 25.5 cubic-feet cargo space, the Lyriq boasts a slightly larger capacity of 28 cubic-feet. Let’s see if this difference translates into a more spacious cargo area.

The tapered roofline of the Lyriq significantly impacts its cargo area, resembling the sport-utility “coupes” in terms of space.

There’s no front trunk in the Lyriq.

The Lyriq features a spacious underfloor storage area, offering more storage volume compared to the Blazer. The additional space allows for a duffle bag to fit comfortably under the floor, a feature not possible in the Blazer.

Additionally, there is a designated area under the floor for the charge cord’s briefcase, ensuring neat and organized storage.
