Rumors suggest that the 2025 GMC Sierra EV may come with a smaller 170-kWh battery pack as standard

It’s quite remarkable that you can now place an order for a 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 pickup, despite the fact that GMC has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the battery capacity. Perhaps this information is only provided after making a deposit. Adding to the intrigue, the 2025 GMC Sierra EV, which is already being advertised on the GMC website and is set to be available later this year, will feature a second battery. According to GM Authority, the 204-kWh pack in the 2024 truck (available only in one trim) is the same pack found in the GMC Hummer EV. In April, GMC increased the estimated range rating for that pack from 400 miles to 440 miles, increased towing capacity by 500 pounds to 10,000 pounds, and raised the maximum payload capacity by 150 pounds to 1,450 pounds. For 2025, GMA reports that the Sierra EV range will feature a smaller 170-kWh pack for lower trims.

Curious about trims? Well, next year’s standard Denali trim will be accompanied by AT4 and Elevation trims. The AT4 will be equipped with trail-use advantages such as four-wheel steering, CrabWalk, and an additional two inches of ground clearance thanks to 18-inch wheels fitted with 35-inch all-terrain tires, in addition to Super Cruise and a spray-on bedliner. Optional features for the AT4 include a DC fast charge upgrade to 350-kW, GMC’s MultiPro MidGate, and the 10.2-kW Power Station Pro. The Elevation, typically a lower trim level in GMC’s vehicle lineup, will come with a power-operated frunk, the MultiPro tailgate, and will ride on 18-inch wheels with 33-inch tires. The Elevation options menu will offer the MultiPro MidGate, Super Cruise, spray-on bedliner, Power Station Pro, and fast charge upgrade. The Denali will include all of these tech features as standard but will feature 24-inch wheels with 35-inch tires.

A wider color selection will be available, expanding beyond the current Thunderstorm Gray to include Deep Ember Tintcoat, Deep Ocean Metallic, Moonlight Matte, Onyx Black, and Summit White.

Regarding the battery, the 2025 Sierra EV’s order guide reveals two pack options: Extended Range and Max Range, without specifying capacity figures. GMA speculates that this will be a 20-module pack of 170 kWh, providing a range of approximately 380 to 390 miles. The 2025 trucks are expected to start production in early September, beginning with the Denali trim, so more information should be forthcoming soon. The AT4 and Elevation trims are set to arrive at dealerships early next year.

Q: Are there any new color options for the 2025 GMC Sierra EV?

A: Yes, the new color options for the 2025 GMC Sierra EV include Deep Ember Tintcoat, Deep Ocean Metallic, Moonlight Matte, Onyx Black, and Summit White.

In conclusion, the upcoming 2025 GMC Sierra EV offers exciting advancements in battery technology, trim options, and color choices, making it a highly anticipated addition to the electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates as production begins and more details are revealed.
