MFL Direct launches new and improved platform for easier purchasing

MFL Direct, a division of Motability Operations, has introduced a redesigned ecommerce platform to simplify the vehicle buying process for UK dealers.

MFL Direct handles sales of over 250,000 cars to dealers annually, with 80% of transactions occurring online.

The updated platform provides a personalized and efficient purchasing experience, allowing dealers to easily search, shortlist, and acquire high-quality inventory.

New features include an ‘Inspected Vehicles’ channel and an auction option, in addition to the existing ‘Buy-It-Now’ feature.

Damian Oton, Chief Commercial Officer at Motability Operations, commented: “The new platform is a comprehensive solution, enabling traders to purchase quality used cars from the Motability Scheme in a way that suits them best.”

During the design process, MFL Direct engaged with dealers and independent traders across the UK, identifying two main buyer mindsets: ‘deal-seekers’ focused on maximizing profit, and ‘simplifiers’ valuing speed and convenience in purchase.

Both groups highlighted the importance of accessible customer support and efficient sales processes.

The ‘Inspected Vehicles’ category, piloted by 400 dealers, utilizes Motability Operations’ facility in Coalville, Leicestershire, capable of preparing up to 25,000 vehicles annually.

These vehicles come with detailed condition reports to assist dealers in meeting customer expectations.

For ‘deal-seekers’, the auction feature offers comprehensive vehicle reports and images for informed bidding. ‘Buy-It-Now’ vehicles include service histories and pricing data, backed by the mfldirect Assured Standard.

The platform is designed for quick transactions, allowing the purchase of two cars in less than a second, with transparent pricing.

All buying options are conveniently presented in one location, with real-time updates to aid dealers in decision-making.
