Ferrari Introduces Affordable $7,500 Hybrid and EV Battery Replacement Programs

Ferrari, the luxury sports car maker, has introduced two new warranty extension programs for owners of its hybrid models to replace their batteries at specified intervals.

This initiative is designed to help owners maintain the resale value of their Ferraris, as the efficiency of batteries diminishes over time and becomes crucial to the value of electric cars.

Under the new Warranty Extension Hybrid and Power Hybrid programs, Ferrari will replace the high-voltage battery packs (HVB) of eligible cars in their eighth and 16th year of life.

Additionally, Ferrari already provides a five-year warranty on hybrid powertrain parts.

These programs, which are transferable to subsequent owners, aim to “safeguard the performance and excellence” of hybrid Ferraris in the long run.

“If advancements in battery technology occur in the future, the replacement HVB will be a cutting-edge component ensuring performance equal to the original,” the company explained.

The programs also include extended factory warranties on the entire vehicles and major powertrain components, with options for renewal every two to four years.

Costing approximately 7,000 euros ($7,530) annually, these programs will also cover Ferrari’s upcoming all-electric model set for release next year.

The Italian automaker, renowned for its powerful petrol engines, has been offering hybrid-electric cars since 2019, such as the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB and 296 GTS, with a commitment to unveil its first fully electric vehicle by the end of 2025.

Q: What is the purpose of Ferrari’s new warranty extension programs?

A: The programs aim to assist owners in maintaining the resale value of their Ferraris by replacing batteries periodically.

Ferrari’s introduction of warranty extension schemes for hybrid models demonstrates the company’s commitment to ensuring the longevity and performance of its vehicles. By offering battery replacements at specific intervals, Ferrari is not only safeguarding the value of its cars but also staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the automotive industry.
