Audi RS Q8 Performance trim enhances refreshed model

The 2025 Audi E-Tron GT has been upgraded by the quattro-loving automaker with a new Performance trim, making it the most powerful internal-combustion-engined SUV to come from Ingolstadt. The RS Q8 Performance now boasts 631 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, surpassing the current RS Q8 by 40 horsepower and 36 pound-feet of torque. The enhanced performance also puts it ahead of the RS 6 Avant Performance, and just slightly below the non-hybrid 2024 Lamborghini Urus S with which it shares its engine.

Improvements include a freer exhaust system that not only boosts power but also delivers a more pleasing exhaust note compared to the standard RS Q8. For those seeking an even more dynamic sound, an upgrade to the RS Sport exhaust is available.

The RS Q8 Performance accelerates from 0 to 62 miles per hour 0.2 seconds quicker than the RS Q8, achieving the sprint in 3.6 seconds. Notable gains are also seen in handling, as shown by a Nurburgring lap time of 7:36.698, making it the fastest SUV around the iconic track.

Exclusive features of the RS Q8 Performance include new 23-inch forged and milled wheels, a reduction in weight of about 44 pounds compared to the standard 22-inch wheels. The exterior is enhanced with matte gray accents, while matte carbon accents are available for a more upscale look. Standard features include the RS ceramic braking system with 10-piston front calipers, and an optional performance package that increases the top speed to around 190 miles per hour.

Inside, the RS Q8 Performance boasts Dinamica microfiber accents, including the steering wheel, shifter, and sides of the center console. The Virtual Cockpit also features a shift indicator light in manual mode.

Looking beyond the Performance trim, the RS Q8 retains its 591 hp and 590 lb-ft power figures. Cosmetic updates include a refreshed grille design, larger side intakes, a red vertical reflector in the diffuser, and new matte gold 22-inch wheel options. Additional metallic color choices have been added, along with the RS Design Package featuring Dinamica microfiber upholstery and contrast stitching.
